Time to team up – Hello, Hamburg!
Last fall, the brand-new finleap connect team with more than 150 ‘connectors’ got together for the first time since its formation in August 2019. The purpose of the offsite – giving connectors the chance to, well, connect! On a day-to-day basis, connectors are spread across 5 different offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Milan, Madrid and Paris. The destination of the offsite – Hamburg, the beautiful port city in Northern Germany. Read on for the highlights of the day.
Team sessions and a boat tour in the world-famous ‘Hamburger Hafen’ 🛥️
If you ever find yourself in Hamburg, you will probably hear the people there greet each other with the traditionally north-German Moin, instead of the more common Guten Morgen, Guten Tag or Guten Abend. Also quite common in Hamburg, are boat tours of the world-famous “Hamburger Hafen”. As many of our team members had not visited the city prior to the offsite, the river Elbe was the perfect chance to say Moin to the city. Complete with our own finleap connect flag, connectors sailed up and down the Elbe, learning not only about Hamburg’s history, but more about each other and finleap connect culture. While on board, everyone was split into teams to align on shared work culture and were asked their opinions on the following questions:
- How can we attract the best tech talents?
- How to work best in virtual/remote teams?
- How do we work between the different verticals and departments?
The valuable insights of the group sessions are now implemented into finleap connect’s work and feedback culture.
Let’s get the party started – Delicious food, fresh drinks, and dancing 🎉
It wouldn’t be a proper offsite if there wasn’t a party! But before the real party could start, for the first time, the monthly ‘Town Hall’ meeting was held with everyone in one location! The meeting gave the management team to update the whole team with the latest developments at finleap, in person. Once the meeting was over, connectors had the chance to ‘connect’ over delicious Italian food and cake. Later, there was music, laughter, and dancing – a fitting end to such a successful day!
The first finleap connect offsite in Hamburg was a great success! Connectors finally got the chance to meet in person, learn about new products, discuss business-driving questions, and spend time in beautiful Hamburg. We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store at finleap connect!

In Germany, April 22nd, 2021, marked the twentieth anniversary of the nationwide campaign day, Girl’s Day (Mädchen-Zukunftstag). To mark this special occasion, Christina Cassala from German fintech blog Payment & Banking asked several leaders in the fintech industry about the importance of the day, as well as what their companies are doing to support the next generation of female fintech leaders. Among those interviewed was our Chief Risk Officer, Dr. Lea Maria Siering.
This year, Capital Magazin analyzed and published an extensive study on the functionality of financial apps. To this end, the study asked a very important question: What can these apps really do? We asked our Chief Commercial Officer, Andreas Reuß, this very question.
